Milton Monroy Gesha

A deep and tropical natural Gesha, from Colombia’s Tolima department.

For our latest Gesha offering we visit west-central Colombia and the stunning city of Ibaque. Framed by snow-capped mountains of the Nevada del Tolima, the department’s capital city is a vibrant place, infused with the country’s music and folklore. Situated on the sweeping highlands that surround the city the 40 hectare farm of Milton Monroy enjoys stunning views across the landscape and perfect conditions for cultivating these precious crops.

Born into a traditional farming family, Milton inherited San Cayetano Alto from his father and has since dedicated himself entirely to the production of high quality coffee. Since 2012 he has driven his farm forwards with a distinct focus on specialty crops, allowing him to achieve better prices and pay greater salaries for his employees. After gaining recognition for the high quality of his lots he has improved his network within the industry, sharing expertise with his piers and constantly improving the infrastructure of his farm. In the short term he plans to completely overhaul and expand his drying mechanisms, allowing greater breadth to his processing options for future seasons.

Within the 23 hectares fully dedicated to coffee, Tabi, Colombia and Caturra trees are cultivated alongside this selected natural Gesha lot. Grown under the shade of native tree canopies, only the perfectly ripe cherries are chosen for harvesting, before full air-drying on raised beds.
